Mark Della-Croce, Product Lead for Lore Link, is once again here to talk about all the cool things happening at Lore Link. There’s a ton, so let’s get started!
Let’s switch things up and not bury the lede here: Lore Link is now in version 4.2.1, which has added two highly requested features! First, we’ve added optional content warnings and player safety questions for GMs sharing their campaigns. Player safety features mean that GMs can inform their players of any themes they don’t want to surprise their players with, and their players, in return, can inform the GM of any issues they’d like to avoid. In these turbulent times, this can ensure that all your players equally enjoy the game, which the GM spends a significant amount of time on. The Player Safety questions are available for all players (found in the user profile), but to share a campaign, the GM must be at a paid tier.
Of course, the second feature is the most hotly requested: Dark Mode! No more fear of blinding yourself by opening Lore Link in a dark room or burning through your cell phone battery life, as our website acts as a front-facing flashlight! Dark Mode is easy to use: click the moon icon in the upper right corner of the screen to switch to Dark Mode or click the sun icon in the same place to return Lore Link to its usual brilliance. Dark Mode is available for all Lore Link users, free or paid. Give it a try today with a free account. Go to our Get Started page for information on how to sign up today!
These are far from the last of the new features coming to Lore Link in the coming months. We’re deep into testing our most significant update yet, which will standardize Lore throughout the system and provide some incredible new opportunities for GMs to create and link Lore. Be sure to keep an eye out for more information coming soon!
With that next update, we’ll also be wrapping up our early access, which means that the paid features of Lore Link will be available for purchase for the general public. Kickstarter backers who paid for their free year of Lore Link will also see those benefits kick in. We’ll send more information on how we’ll smoothly transition into that phase of Lore Link, so watch for an email soon!
However, we also use Lore Link when not toiling away in the code mines. April saw us bring Lore Link to Who’s Yer Con. While there, Mike and I gave two seminars on GMing 101 and choosing a system for your next game. Mike also hosted the adventure he’d planned and run previously on stream: 6th Edition Pendragon’s The Sword Campaign. We loved presenting these, engaging with our audience, and hearing about their troubles and successes! If you missed those, you’ll have a second chance to catch us giving those same seminars at Origins Game Fair! Tickets are still available for the two workshops, and while the Pendragon game is currently full, don’t worry! That can change before the convention, so check back to see if seats have opened up!
Speaking of things we’ve streamed, we’ll wrap up this email with a quick recap of all the exciting things we’ve covered or will cover here soon! At the end of April, I sat down with our awesome Head of Communications to discuss all the fun things we saw at Who’s Yer Con while engaging in some Shrek-themed PowerWash Simulator. Mike continued his series of planning out his long-running Pathfinder 2E campaign, The Quest for the Frozen Flame. I’ve continued my series of digging into various topics that GMs might encounter, tackling cozy games (like Ryuutama, Floria: The Verdant Way, and Fabula Ultima’s Natural Fantasy) and old school favorites (like Dungeon Crawler Classics). Later this month we’ll cover campaigns with bigger-scale conflicts (Like Dragonlance or the upcoming Heroes of Might and Magic), and on Friday, May 30th, Mike will return to see if the team can get to the heart of Merlin’s conspiracy to crown this so-called “King Arthur” as we wrap up The Sword Campaign for Pendragon! All of these will be viewable on our Twitch channel; Follow the channel to get notifications for these and the co-op and old school D&D streams we’ll also have this month!
As you can tell, that’s a lot, and I’ve got to get back to testing so we can get these cool new features out the door. ‘Til then, may your players cleverly foil your plans and overthrow the evil emperor!
