Lore Link Lore Link

Hello, Mark Della-Croce here. Wow, June was a crazy month! But we’re not slowing down, so we’ll keep the updates rolling in July.

First off, thanks to everyone who has signed up for Lore Link in the past few weeks, and an even bigger thank you to all of you who have sent in your feedback. We appreciate hearing from you, learning how you’re using Lore Link and how we can make it even better. As a reminder, you can send us feedback in the app at any point by clicking on the Provide Feedback link and letting us know any concerns, bugs, suggestions, or even praises you have for Lore Link. You can also join in the conversations we’re having over in Discord.

On the dev side of things, we’ve been fixing the bugs we’ve found (both reported by users and found by our ever-vigilant QA team) and making the payment system work as smoothly as possible. Clearing the final bug hurdle means that the system is now positioned for work to start on our next big update: the Lore Refactor! We’ve looked over the list of requested features from users and a lot of them require us doing some housekeeping first. The biggest thing we’re going to do is stop locking features away behind certain categories. Hierarchy is cool, so why is it limited to just Tags and Locations? Likewise, linking between objects should be easy and uncomplicated. So we’re going to shift everything on the backend to a singular object type: Lore! The front end will still allow you to separate your Lore into separate categories, but on the backend, everything will be the same, allowing us to make the above changes possible. These will also make other future changes possible, such as Named Relationships, and (eventually!) custom categories. This change will come with a little bit of downtime, but we’ll give notice well in advance of when that will happen so that you can be prepared.

On the streaming front, Mike’s been doing more than his usual share of streaming in preparation for our next big Lore Link Plays event. He’s been going through The One Ring 2nd Edition, getting it prepped for actual play stream later today, July 18, over on our Twitch Channel. As proof of how much he’s been wanting to do this, he streamed the first part of his preparation for this game way back in December (as seen here)! He has now streamed it twice more (part 2 and part 3), and he’s set to take our cast of Hobbits on an adventure, whether we want it or not!

If you want to see us live and in person, Lore Link will be at Gen Con this year. However, rather than being in the exhibit hall, this year we’re taking a more hands-on approach, by which I mean we’re running games and teaching workshops. First, Mike and I will be teaching a workshop on how to prep for your first session of a TTRPG. We’ll be talking about what to do, what NOT to do, and how to make your campaign a success for both you AND your players. Tickets for that event are available here, and our newsletter subscribers get the first notice on a giveaway: each attendee of that event will get a FREE coupon for 3 months of Multiverse access to Lore Link! Mike will also be running his sold-out Pendragon game at two different times on Friday (9 am and 3 pm). Tickets for those games have sold out every time he’s offered them, so hop on them fast if you want a chance to play! And this time he’s also added a The One Ring adventure to his lineup at 10 am on Sunday. So come check those out!

Well, my body currently thinks that it is 6 hours later than it actually is, so I’m going to try and correct that issue and then get back to work on Lore Link. Till next time, may your room be cool and your fireballs hot!
