Lore Link Lore Link

Hey all, Mark Della-Croce, Product Link of Lore Link here, taking a break from working on the Data Refactor to keep you updated on all the cool things we’ve been up to here with Lore Link.

We’re back (and mostly recovered) from Gen Con, where we had a fantastic time running games and workshops. Mike ran multiple sold-out One Ring and Pendragon games, while I ran some absolutely off-the-wall Toon games. We also teamed up for a well-received workshop on how to prepare for your first session of your campaign! This is an expanded version of our GMing 101 panel that we’ve run in the past and gives GMs an interactive way of walking through some of those sometimes scary initial steps to building out a successful campaign before you roll the dice for the first time. It’s a neat addition to our list of panels that we can present at conventions. You can always check out where to catch us next on our community page, and if there’s a convention near you that you think we would be a good fit at, let us know!

Session 0 is the point where your beautiful game idea encounters the chaos of your players for the first time

Our Twitch streaming has been quite varied in these summer months as we have switched up hosts, games, and formats! Mike wrapped up his preparations for The One Ring game and took the Lore Link players and me through an incredible adventure with Hobbits, “borrowed” maps, and lost treasures. For my part, I explored how to incorporate conspiracy and spies into your game, utilizing Lore Link to track and gradually reveal secrets to your players. After that, I took a look at how to pull in those Battletech miniature game players into more role-playing-based mech adventures. Then I took a break and played around with some video games, both influenced by and influencing role-playing games, both new and old! And lastly, just this week, Mike took a look at the solo game experience of Thousand-Year-Old Vampire.

In the lower right are all of the players, with various hobbit pictures. Showing the largest on the screen is the GM screen, or the Lore Link screen.

The GM has heard of the first bad player roll, yes, but has he heard of second bad player roll?

For the remainder of August, we’ll be a bit slow as we recover from our Gen Con adventures and wrap up the summer holiday, but starting next week, we’ll be back with some exciting content! We’ll start off with a guest appearance of our moderator and excellent streamer in her own right: Twenty! Also, we’re excited to announce a new series that will focus on indie creators and the innovative games and accessories they’re developing. We’re looking forward to working with these creators to help GMs find, and then run, their next favorite game!

On the development side of things, as I mentioned, we’re deep in testing our Lore Refactor product update, which is going to see some much-requested changes (Named Relationships! Linking for everything!) coming to Lore Link. As we start the conversion process of old data to new, we’ll be getting feedback from our users over in Discord about how the latest changes work, so be sure to keep an eye on those channels if you want to be involved!

Alright, that’s all I have time for today, so I’d better get back to work before the pre-Gen Con backlog overwhelms me! ‘Til next time, may you always have a date for your next game!
