Spill the tea

As our team wrapped up our time at Origins Game Fair and looked ahead to Gen Con, we did some reflecting on how we can provide the best possible engagement and experience for all the gamers we interact with at these live events.

When we first started building Lore Link back in 2019 we had a few goals:

  • Involve the community
  • Be system agnostic
  • Serve first-time GMs
  • Everything must be accessible

Since the beginning we’ve been building the app for the web against WCAG for web accessibility, and we continue to perform accessibility evaluations and accept feedback via our Accessibility Statement.

We’ve intentionally used system-neutral and setting-neutral language in our lore categories and have made it possible for you to further customize your experience with customizable categories, templates, and custom fields.

To help first-time GMs we’ve provided pre-configured default categories for some initial campaign structure, have an extensive set of session planning videos from our live stream where we discuss how to plan tabletop RPG sessions, and many of these have been categorized by System on our website. We’ve even held seminars at live events on topics such as GMing 101, What to Do Before Your First Session as a GM, and How to pick your next TTRPG!.

To involve the community we’ve been attending conventions, sponsored events and groups, and run a weekly live stream where we collaborate with TTRPG Creators. We also created Lore Link based upon input from an advisory board, we’ve always accepted feedback, and we’ve created and refined many features based upon your input.

So from our perspective we’re accomplishing our goals, but that’s honestly not what’s important. We want to hear from YOU and get your input on not just what the Lore Link team could do better, but what the industry could do better and where you run into challenges. We want all the tea, including:

  • What’s challenging in planning, running, and playing games?
  • If you’re not gaming as much as you would like, is there anything we could do to help?
  • Where do you get your information about new TTRPGs and events?
  • What’s something you love about the TTRPG community? What’s something you would change?

If you’re a creator such as a writer or publisher of games, video producer / podcaster / streamer / blogger, we want to hear from you also:

  • What are your unique challenges in creating games and content?
  • How do you go about building a following?
  • What type of support or collaboration would make the industry better for you?
