What's Going On? - October

A white tower with round towers in each corner rises above a stone wall trimmed with shrubs and ivy. The tower features red accents and slate grey peaked roof. Beside the tower is a wooden building largely obstructed by the trees.

Welcome to October!

Did you know that October isn’t just the Spooky month with Bat Appreciation Month and Black Cat Awareness Month, but it’s also Self-Promotion Month? With that in mind, let me tell you a little bit about our tabletop role-playing game campaign…

Oh, not here? Oh, okay.

September is now behind us, and we had a new release of Lore Link go out back in the middle of the month. This newest update included improvements in both security and UI, we fixed a bug where deleted categories will no longer restore after saving your campaign, and the feedback form now accepts screenshots! Any issues or questions can go over to support@lorelink.com and we’ll get you squared away!

There’s a lot more to talk about this month, so let’s roll right into it!

Conventions

This is a list of conventions where at least part of the convention is devoted to tabletop role-playing games. This list is for informational purposes only. We don’t endorse any of these shows. They’re just ones that fit the bill after looking through Tabletop Events, FanCons, and using some different searches for gaming conventions.

Do you have a convention that you feel should be listed here, but it isn’t? Please email me with the dates, website, and location, and I can edit it in. Also, if you’re running a convention and want to make it easier for folks like me who like telling people about these things, please make sure your Tabletop Events page says what kind of event it is. You get bonus points for having an actual website, not just a Facebook page, and please - for Pete’s sake - don’t have the “Website” link on Tabletop Events circle back around to your Tabletop Events page!

Upcoming Conventions for Lore Link

  • October 22nd-25th - Spiel Essen Confirmed
    • Michael will be attending this year so please look for him in the Lore Link t-shirt and say hi! You can connect in the convention’s B2B Matchmaking or meet with Michael in the B2B room on Friday.
  • October 23rd-25th - Mad Con in Fort Wayne, Indiana Confirmed
    • Mark and Tony will be heading north to talk Lore Link, gaming, and more in the vendor hall at this fairly new gaming convention at the Grand Wayne Center! This will be our last appearance before we crawl back into our lairs to code, create social media posts, and plan actual plays for the remainder of 2026.

Remember, you can always visit https://lorelink.com/community to see our upcoming appearances.

Twitch Schedule

Let’s take a look at what the Lore Link team is going to be doing on Twitch every Tuesday this coming month, as we pivot back towards planning sessions and actual-plays, with a bonus spooky actual-play stream on the final Friday. All streams will be live on our Twitch channel, and then archived to our YouTube channel.

Friends of Lore Link - Crowdfunding

As you might have noticed, many of our Indie Creator Series guests are either in the midst of crowdfunding their amazing games, or getting ready to start crowdfunding. Let’s see whose campaign is either currently running, or starting this month!

  • Hope Dies Last
    • Live on Gamefound! The goal was reached in just over a day, and it’s running until October 13th!
    • From their landing page: “A triptych of Daggerheart-compatible campaign frames where defiant heroes fight against overwhelming odds. Heroic Fantasy, Cyberpunk, and Space Opera frames bring whole new worlds, enemies, and mechanics to your Daggerheart campaigns!”
  • If I Were You - A Conversation Before the End
    • Just went live on Backerkit!
    • From their landing page: “If I Were You is a two-player conversational tabletop roleplaying game played entirely through dialogue. There are no dice, no stats, and no shared objective. A fragile connection forms between two people who should not be able to speak. You may not understand why the connection exists, only that it does. You will never meet. The conversation will not last forever. But you will be changed.”
  • The Wine Dark Sea
    • Will be going live on Gamefound on October 6th!
    • From their landing page: “Play as lost starfarers trapped in a place of dreaded legend outside the known universe. Here, you will need to use the corrupting abilities bestowed upon you to survive and try to find a way home.”
  • Gallerie: Queer Stories of Beauty, Horror, & Hope - Late Pledges
    • Fully Funded on Backerkit, pre-orders are now available!
    • From their landing page: “Gallerie is a queer-focused TTRPG about self-actualization that employs art and dream elements to paint narratives about redefining oneself and fighting one’s demons. It’s about community, cooperation, unabashed self-love, facing hard memories, nightmarish enemies, systemic oppression, and the beauty of embracing what you know to be true but have been taught to ignore.”
    • Previous appearance - Weapons Grade Funk Blog Post
  • The Magic of Inventorying - Late Pledges
    • Fully funded on Kickstarter, but rewards are still available as Late Pledges
    • From their Kickstarter: “Are you an adventurer with a strong desire to declutter your loot? Magic of Inventorying is a punchy storytelling game for 3 to 6 players, designed to be played in a few hours with polyhedral dice, no GM, and ZERO preparation.”
    • Previous appearance - The Magic of Inventorying Blog Post

That should do it for this month. Now we need to prep for our final convention appearance for 2026, which is in just a few weeks. Then we have Halloween on a Saturday, which is always amazing!

Remember, you can always find us talking games over on Bluesky, streaming on Twitch every Tuesday, sending out our newsletter every month, and posting our streams over on YouTube.

If you’ve read this far, I appreciate you! Remember, take good care of yourselves, and each other, and I’ll see you around!
