A Whole New Lore Link in 2026

Hello! I’m Mark Della-Croce, Product Lead for Lore Link. 2025 was an amazing year for Lore Link on many different fronts, meeting many of you across the country at conventions, planning and playing games on our Twitch Stream, and even collaborating with a ton of awesome indie creators in our Indie Creators Series. However, the focus of this blog post is going to be on the most exciting thing that happened at Lore Link in 2025: our amazing new features!

We’ll start with the seemingly boring (but secretly most exciting) news of the year: Lore Link went public! After our exciting Kickstarter back in June 2023, our backers have had exclusive access to all of the features of Lore Link at our top tiers. That includes templates, maps, sharing with your players, and much more. However, as we wrapped up our initial development cycle, we felt it was time to expand access to Lore Link to the public. So, as of the end of June 2025, all users can upgrade their accounts to our paid tiers and template, plot, scheme, and map out amazing scenarios to entertain their players free of the burdens of bookkeeping.

We don’t just work at Lore Link; our team is full of Game Masters (in fact, check out our communications director’s return to GMing in our last blog post!) who use Lore Link on a regular basis. From that experience and customer feedback, we realized we needed to expand how the base data layer worked in order to best meet the needs of our users: we needed to open up the way in which users can link Lore together. We wanted to make it easier for users to link Lore of any category to any other type of Lore, so we changed our back end model in order to allow our Game Masters to be as creative as they wanted to be! Maybe they wanted to link Locations to a Timeline, have characters in a Hierarchal relationship, or put a map on an Item. Well, now they can! Your campaign management tool should enable and enhance your wildest chaotic player fueled storytelling, not restrict it.

Hierarchy means you can define a skeleton once, and create variations to your heart’s content without having to retype base stats!

Additionally, as a result of that data model change, we were also able to add in a feature that had been a favorite request of our users: Relationships. While you could always link two pieces of Lore together in Lore Link (it is in the name, after all), being able to specify exactly how or why those two were connected was previously unavailable. Now our Relationships feature allows you to add key details to your campaign (such as: two characters are father and son, that a villain was responsible for a specific event, or which room of a dungeon a piece of loot was discovered in), giving color and background to your world!

A common use for Relationships among the Lore Link team is tracking complicated Pendragon family trees.

Cheating the calendar just a bit (it actually came out in January of 2026…shhh!) our newest feature is our Encounter Management system! Another one of our organizational objects, Encounters allow you to organize all those pieces of Lore into a coherent encounter for your players. Whether it is a party filled with guests and servants, a clash of armies on the shores of an island kingdom, or a dragon’s cave filled with a dragon’s horde…and a dragon’s fury at trespassers. Specify a scene where the encounter could take place, specify the number and type of actors that make up the encounter, and then add what is at stake: the loot! This is just the beginning, too: we’re planning on expanding encounter management with features like active encounter management, which will allow premium users to use the map feature to position actors or loot on the map, and track initiative, and combat damage as the encounter progresses. While Lore Link is not designed to be a replacement for a fully dedicated VTT, Encounter Management offers another way for GMs running any system to track complicated situations without having to go flipping through their notes for every detail of the epic encounter they have planned out.

Use encounters to plan out that Kobold ambush…that totally won’t go awry once the players decide to adopt the Kobolds instead of fighting them.

Here’s a secret bonus feature: Campaign Import and Export is coming here soon! At Lore Link we know that the key part of GMing is all of the information you need to keep track of over the course of the campaign. And you may need to be able to bring into Lore Link in an epic adventure you’ve started telling outside of Lore Link. Or maybe you need to extract that dramatic journey you and your players have taken over the course of the game and preserve it in some other form. Your data is yours to keep, not to be gatekept from. And this also opens the doors to collaborations with third parties via APIs and data standardizations across our industry.

We’re always working on great features to add into Lore Link to allow GMs to do what they love: spend time with their players telling stories and creating memories, not fighting with their notes.
