Hello all, Mark Della-Croce here again with another Lore Link newsletter. May is the calm before the storm, but still great things are going on!
First up, on the streaming front, we’ve had some incredible streams! The Indie Creator Series continued with three different creators of small TTRPGs (Zachary Elliott-Hatton of Minimal Impact, Valery North of Finding Styles, and CJ Tucker of Goodbye, World </3) joining me to discuss what goes into small games. I really enjoyed moderating the conversation as those three talented creators and designers described the joys and perils of small TTRPGs as well as what small games have to offer GMs of all experience levels. Then last week, I sat down with returning creator Emily Fraser to talk about her newest game Gallerie. Gallerie is a stunning book, with amazing art and systems which are designed to force you and your players into breaking out of the drudgery and commonness of your typical fantasy TTRPG. If you want a game system that can support a character which, in the words of one player, is a “house that haunted itself” you’ll want to check out Gallerie. Finally, this week I sat down with Arcane to discuss their game, Quasar: Tales from the Endless Void. Quasar has an excellent blend of inspiring world building, exciting combat, and an incredibly clever skill system. Check this out if you want a narrative game with a solid well thought combat system.

Finally, I got to do that Western TTRPGs discussion I’ve had prepared for over a year! Coming up, Twenty continues her journey through Marvel’s Midnight Suns as well as her education in the wider Marvel Universe. After that, Mike returns to the stream to play more video games with me (possibly a return to the Spire? Or will we actually get Battlemarked working? You’ll have to tune in to find out!) Plus, we aren’t stopping with our Indie Creator series;’ we have several more exciting guests already lined up for June!

Yes, it’s a shorter newsletter this month, but trust me, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes. Website updates, new application features, and more are all in the works. And that’s all before we get to Origins in June and Gen Con in August!
All that to say, I shouldn’t hang around here any longer, I’ve got work to do. ‘Til next time, may you forever GMs get a chance to play, and you first-time GMs have an amazing first session!
