Did Gen Con blow you away?

Hey there, everyone! Happy third Friday of the month! It’s Tony, the Communications Guy, and I want to start off by once again welcoming all of our new subscribers from Gen Con! This is the normal email you receive every month, and normally the only email you receive from us every month!

Before I pass this over to Mark, I’d like to thank everyone that stopped by the booth at Gen Con. We laughed, we said “WHAT?” a lot (it was loud), we survived Saturday afternoon’s weather, and we were surrounded by a lot of Dungeon Crawler Carl. Sadly, during some of Jeff Hays’ hall closing/level collapse announcements was when Mark realized we were NPCs at the show. We were in the same place every time someone walked by, we were saying the same lines over and over, and we were trying to get the adventurers who passed by to buy our wares. I’m fairly certain he had accepted it by the end of the show.

Speaking of Mark, let’s go ahead and pass this over to him to see what’s going on.

Thanks Tony, and Greetings from above the Arctic Circle! I’m taking a brief break after Gen Con, so I’m writing this from just outside of Iceland (I’ll be back home by the time you’re reading this, though). But my being away from my home desk doesn’t mean things have stopped happening with Lore Link!

Streaming wise, we’ve been a bit light, working as we were to make sure that Gen Con went without a hitch. But that didn’t stop us from running a few streams along the way, with Tony playing a bit of Powerwash Simulator 2, taking on the Herculean task of trying to clean the Millenium Falcon. Then Twenty was confronted with slightly higher odds than usual of exploding in her playthrough of Midnight Suns. But it wasn’t all video games and explosions, as Mike sat down with Matt from Infinite Citadel to discuss The Beckoning Dream, their new “surrealist, tarot deck-building TTRPG of interpretation, cartomancy, and dreams” coming soon to Kickstarter. They talked about everything that went into building out a TTRPG and even discussed how Lore Link could be used to plan out an adventure. And just this week, Mike continued planning out his own personal campaign in Lore Link, in The One Ring system.

Coming up, I’ll be back in the driver’s seat on Twitch, starting off with using Lore Link to plan a game in a new system I got a chance to try out at Gen Con: Legends in the Mist. Yes, I did manage to avoid being chained to the booth, if only after the exhibit hall closed. After that, we’re in talks with several additional cool indie creators to continue our Indie Creator series!

Speaking of conventions, if you want to catch us out in person again in a slightly less crowded (and hopefully less tornado prone) location, you can catch us at the beginning of September, the 4th through the 6th, at Indianapolis’s Who’s Yer Con at booth 22 in the Liberty Hall. You can also catch us from October 23 through the 25th up in Ft. Wayne at Mad Con! As always, stop by if you want to chat with us, give the latest version of Lore Link a demo, or just get cool swag (like those dice we talked about in the previous newsletter)!

An image of a mock-up of a convention badge ribbon, which reads "Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention please. We are presently under a tornado warning. Please remain calm, but it is necessary for you to proceed to the interior rooms of the building. Security personnel are standing by to assist you. Please move away from any windows, docks, or exterior walls. Thank you. Now get out there and shelter, shelter, shelter!"

Come on, you know someone will do it or already has…

Development wise, we’re picking up steam on the Layout changes, setting up systems, and the ability to arrange fields however you like. You can add custom fields and slot them right into your custom line up with ease, then save that layout and use it again and again throughout Lore Link! We’re also in the process of going through and cleaning up minor UX issues we have received feedback about. If there is something you feel is missing or not working quite right in Lore Link, please leave us feedback on our Feedback page.

So, even spinning down a bit from the heights of Gen Con, we’ve still got plenty going on. Indie Creator Series, Layout changes, and a few more conventions left. I’ll now leave you in Tony’s capable hands for a wrap-up, and get back to my IRL adventures; see you next month!

Hey y’all, it’s Tony again. Before I let you go to enjoy your day, I wanted to remind you all about the request Mike made last month. We’d love for you all to “Spill the Tea.” We’re working on figuring out not just what we can do better, but what the industry as a whole can do better. So please, if you could spare a few minutes to check out this blog post and answer one or both of the surveys, we would appreciate it more than you know. Thanks!

As always, don’t forget about all the places you can find us other than your inbox. We have the Twitch stream, the YouTube channel, our blog, our Bluesky account, and our Discord. Thank you for reading this far! Until next month, may your dice roll true.
