Weapons Grade Funk
Part of the Indie Creator Series

In November of 2025, our Indie Creator Series gave us the opportunity to meet Emily Fraser, of Weapons Grade Funk. Over the course of an hour, Mike and Emily had the opportunity to cover topics such as Emily’s history with games, the mindset behind creating a game, and the issues of trying to write and release a game, knowing it might not be the right time for it and the message it’s trying to convey. They also spent time talking about her game, HC SVNT DRACONES, as well as her upcoming game, Gallerie.

I was able to get some thoughts from Mike after the stream. He stated, “Emily has created some really cool and unique games, and the production quality of the books is fantastic. So much excellent art, great writing, and cohesive organization. I really want to just sit and read it cover to cover. I’ll definitely be backing Gallerie when it releases next year.” Emily was also kind enough to give me some of her thoughts about streaming with Mike. “I was super happy to get the opportunity to talk to yall!” she wrote. “Michael was engaging during the interview, he fed good questions and gave me the chance to ramble when I wanted to. The whole team was courteous and friendly and really seemed to have a passion for gaming and what it does for people. They felt eager to have me on and that’s always encouraging.” She also told me, “…it was great to get such quick and encouraging responses to my initial hails. Reaching out to people for interviews is difficult, it’s sort of putting yourself on display and saying “Hey come spend several hours of your time and effort on me” and you never really know if they’re going to be at all interested in what you have to offer. Not being overlooked just because I’m not attached to a big label was refreshing and appreciated.”

After the stream Michael had an opportunity to participate in a playtest of Hotzone, the heist skirmish board game set in the HSD universe, which went on to have a successful Kickstarter.

Looking ahead towards the next crowdfunding campaign, Emily wrote, “The next big thing is Gallerie, which we’ll be chatting about when I meet back with y’all. It’s big and beautiful with two full books and an adventure on-launch along with a host of really cool add-ons and is the most personal product I’ve ever put out in terms of content and audience. I’m excited for it, I’m scared for it, it’s going to polarize some people for sure. But all the stories worth telling do.”

As Emily mentioned above, she will be the Indie Creator Series’ first returning guest, sitting down with Mark to talk about Gallerie’s upcoming campaign on our May 5th stream. We’re really looking forward to sitting down with her again, and seeing what’s next. If you’d like to see what’s going on, we strongly encourage you to follow Emily on Bluesky, and check out her work on the Weapons Grade Funk website. If you would like to watch the first stream to get caught up, you can find it in this post, or on our YouTube page.

All of us here at Lore Link would like to thank Emily for joining our stream, and liking us enough to want to come back! We’ll see Emily on the stream a week from tomorrow, and we hope you all will join us!
