About a month ago, Mike had the opportunity to talk to DramaDoesThings about her game that is currently on Backerkit, If I Were You. According to the Backerkit description, “If I Were You is a two-player conversational TTRPG about time, tension, and what we reveal under pressure. One of you has time. One of you doesn’t. You speak across a fragile link as cards interrupt or end the exchange. When time runs out, [the] game ends.” There are no dice, and no GM. Just two players, a deck of prompt cards, and a story being told before time runs out.
Over the course of the conversation, Mike and Drama talked about the game, the decision to use cards in the game, why it’s only two players, how the conversation has some plot twist cards, and the conversation ending card can come up at any time. They also talked about how If I Were You could be used outside of the gaming table. For example, one of the first ideas that Drama thought of was for improv stories at Fringe theater festivals.
We’d like to thank Drama for joining us on our stream, and kicking off her crowdfunding campaign with us! You have until the morning of October 30th to back the game, so please go check it out and throw some money at an indie creator. If you want to keep up with what Drama’s working on, you can follow her on Bluesky, and check out her website. Please, give the video a watch here, or over on our YouTube channel!
