Encounters are the way to quickly sort together what happens when your party encounters conflict. Whether it is a throw down between the party and a pack of monstrous wolves or a social show down between the party and the evil King and his court, Encounters will help you keep track of who is involved, where it could take place, and what is at stake (or as your players might put it: What’s the loot?)

An Encounter consists of three different sections, which answer three different questions about the encounter.

  • The scene, or Where does the encounter take place? This can be as simple as a location, like the Freeway, or deep in the woods, or it could be an after a triggering event, such as the villain ending his monologue.
  • Next is the Actors, or Who is Involved in the Encounter? A vampire? 30 vampires? Is it the King’s courtiers? These section allows you to give a quantity so you can specify exactly how badly out number your players are.
  • And lastly is the Loot, or What is the Reward? You can specify 300 gold pieces, a magic sword, or just a note which gives a clue as to where the cultists will hold the ritual tonight.

Encounters can be linked to Sessions in order to help you keep track of what’s coming up in your next game session. Additionally, any Lore linked to an Encounter will have the Encounter listed in the “Lore Referenced In” section.
